Archery Level 1 & 2

Who doesn’t love a high velocity pointy object?  Come learn and advance your archery skills.

Canoeing

Learn and practice the skills necessary to safely have fun on (not in) the water!

Camp Pillow

Is there anything better than a curling up in your sleeping bag with a cozy camp pillow at the end of a long day? Make your own in this fun class.

First Aid

Learn how to respond to common camp injuries & illnesses – bleeds, burns, blisters, heat, cold and stomach illnesses.

Knots, Knives & Fire Building

Learn the basics of these essential outdoor skills.

Map Reading & Orienteering

The ability to read a map is a life skill!  Learn the basics of map reading, how to use a compass in conjunction with a map and practice on an orienteering course.

Camp Stoves (Grades 9 & Up)

Learn about various types of camp stoves for car camping and backpacking.  We'll have a small hike and a trail snack using lightweight stoves!

Knots - Make Your Own Hammock (Grades 9 & Up)

Learn knots and then use them in practice to help you construct a hammock. Bring a non-ripped bedsheet to this session.

Shelter Building (Grades 9 & Up)

Learn knots and then use them in practice to help you construct a shelter.

Traveling Off the Beaten Path (Grades 9 & Up)

Want to travel light and head off the beaten path?  Learn important water purification, lean-to and other shelter skills to help you on your next adventure.

Whittling (Grades 9 & Up)

Learn the basics and then create your own spirit stick to commemorate your new skill.

Bottle Rockets

Learn the science behind flight. Design and create your own bottle rocket and watch it take flight into space.

Candles

Come make some wax candles using various techniques.

Flower Arranging

Learn the basics of flower arranging. Then create your own masterpiece to enjoy.

Forest Bathing

Explore this mindfulness practice of reconnecting to oneself to nature.

Mandala Painting

Learn its meaning and come paint to your dots content.

MN Tree Identification

Ever wonder about the various types of trees at Camp Lakamaga? Well now’s your chance to look about them. Use a dichotomous key to decipher them with your troop mates.

Nature Journaling & Art (Journaling, Sketching or Painting)

Have fun with this art/reflective time of soaking in nature. Use sketching or watercolors to express yourself while putting your thoughts pen to paper.

Personal Safety

Keeping safe.  Get some practical advice and tips on own personal safety from experts in the field.  Even practice some basic safety maneuvers.

Self Esteem:  Up, Up, & Away

Participate in hands-on activities that will help you raise your self-esteem. Then learn additional activities to share aimed to raise their self-esteem all the while laughing together.

Walking Sticks (or Camp Memory Stick) & Hike

Choice to make either your own walking stick (or camp memory stick). Once you’ve made you and then take a hike to try out your stick.
